I've never heard of this happening, I assume that they hear "imageboard" and immediately start thinking about 4/8chan and Pizzagate and QAnon and /pol/ or whatever.
Funnily enough I started off with PHP web development by learning how to install Futaba and Vichan on a server. Made something in PHP for a few friends a while ago. Sad that I'm not as motivated to write code as I used to be.

I guess you could try doing the development work yourself. Don't think many altchans have dedicated developers, and I don't believe Svvt had one when he started the Shemmy either.

Trying to learn from scratch would take too long man, especially for what i need right now. I think there's only a couple options left before it's unironically over. But i'll have to see
